Ay ‘up from Sheffield

Wildlife has always been a great source of comfort, upliftment and strength.

Creating sculptures from clay is my tribute to all the little souls who
have given me such joy.

It’s then my absolute pleasure to share these creations with you so you can enjoy holding them as much as I did making them.

If, by enjoying my sculptures, someone can be reconnected to the wild world and all the love we should have for it as humans, then I’ll have started to repay those creatures for everything they’ve given me.

Do something sensible

As a kid and was taken out of junior school for doing “too much drawing and not enough maths,”

So up until the pandemic, I was a professional photographer.

The world stopped and I rediscovered what it was like to be outside and connected to nature and it reignited my childhood passion for art and wildlife.

Why Clay?

I discovered clay on a local workshop and fell in love with it.

From the moment I plunged my hands into that cold, damp bag and brought out lumps of wonderful earthy goodness, I knew that clay would be with me for the rest of my life.

Why British Wildlife?

There is a world on our very own doorsteps, no matter where we live. We simply need to slow down and take notice.

I want us to celebrate all our species – from the iconic to the unpopular.

An Artists Life

A typical week might see me out walking with the camera, wondering who I might meet on the journey that will inspire me.

Back in the studio (my posh garden shed) I’ll play around with some clay, getting my hands to recreate the lines, forms and feeling from my encounters.

In between sculpting, there’ll be glazes to apply and kilns to load, admin and marketing and events to plan for. All of which are delightfully interrupted many times by spontaneous bird watching.

Supporting those who support wildlife

I’m blessed to be able to create sculptures for local and national wildlife organisations and charities which are raffled or auctioned off to help raise much needed funds.

So when you support me through my art I’m able to support wildlife, which is incredibly important.

It’s not just about fund raising though, my sculptures encourage people to get hands on with nature whilst we chat about it.

Reconnecting hearts, minds and hands with the natural world around us I feel is part of my mission to help.
