Donna Nook Seals

I've been to see the Seals at Donna Nook again.
Every year, hundreds of Grey Seals haul themselves onto the beaches of Lincolnshire coast in order to give birth and breed.

This gives us a rare opportunity to see them up close without causing any harm. They're behind a fence and closely monitored by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

Left to their own devices while their mums go off to feed, they roll about, scratch, snooze and occasionally play with whatever blade of grass is in front of their nose.

After 2-3 weeks, their mum will head back out to the water to breed and eventually these little sea sausages will get so hungry that they too make their way to the water for food.

Of course, by this point they've put on quite a bit of timber thanks to their mum's fatty milk.
